5 things I learnt while vibe-coding my first app

I don’t come from a coding background. I just wanted to see if I could build something useful.

1. Don’t chase features

Early on, I kept adding features just because they sounded cool. Then I realised they didn’t solve the core problem.

If the foundation isn’t right, none of it matters.

2. Clarity beats everything

I kept trying to build without clearly writing down the problem. Every time I paused and wrote the use case in simple words, things got clearer.

Without that clarity, I was just moving in circles.

3. Too many ideas slow you down

I had a hundred ideas in my head. It felt exciting, but also overwhelming. And that slowed me down.

What helped was breaking things into smaller steps. One piece at a time.

4. Perfection wasted my time

I wasted hours tweaking small things that did not matter in the bigger picture. I was polishing when I should have been testing.

Chasing perfection early on was just procrastination in disguise.

5. User psychology is tricky

Small details decide the flow. Where a button goes. How many steps you add. That can decide whether someone uses it or drops off.

It’s less about the code, more about how people think.
